Check-in Time
Check-in from 3:00 PM. Reception is open 24 hours, so you can arrive any time. Rental lockers are available if you arrive early.

Security Deposit
A €30 deposit per person is required upon arrival and must be paid by card. It’s fully refunded on checkout if no issues arise.

ID Required
All guests must present valid photo ID at check-in. Non-EU citizens must have a valid passport.

Minors (Under 18)
Students under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please, let us know in advance.

Check-in & Arrival
What documents are required upon arrival?
All guests must present a valid photo ID at check-in.
Non-EU citizens must provide a valid passport.
EU citizens must provide valid ID, Driver License or passport.
Identification documents will be scanned and securely stored as part of the check-in process.
Security deposit is also required upon check-in.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in starts from 3 PM, with early check-in possible for a fee and subject to availability. Reception is open 24 hours allowing late arrivals. Check-out is by 11 AM, but you may remain in the common areas until 3 PM. Late check-out incurs an automatic €20 surcharge per person.
Can you store luggage before check-in or after check-out?
Yes, we do have a rental locker available for guests in-house. Please, note that it’s an extra service and it’s paid.
Booking, Cancellation & Availability
How can I make a booking?
You can contact us directly at hostels@canbe.ie or submit an enquiry through our website. To provide you with a tailored quotation, we will need your travel dates and any specific requirements you may have. Our team will then send you a personalised quotation with the best available rate if high season or fixed-rate during low-season.
How do I cancel or modify my reservation? What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation terms vary depending on the booking dates and student agreement. Standard Rate require 1 month notice for cancellation or modification. Please refer to your booking confirmation and Terms & Conditions for full details.
Do you accept kids? Do minors require adult supervision?
Yes. We do accept minors, but guests between 8-17 years old must be accompanied by responsible adults and cannot share room with other parties.
Please, always inform us and consider this while making your booking request.
Please, note that kids under 8 years old are not able to stay at Gardiner House Hostel by Irish Regulations.
How far in advance should I book? Can you accommodate last-minute bookings?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during peak season, to ensure availability and secure the best rates. For students travelling during peak season, we recommend booking at least 6 months in advance.
If we have availability for your requested dates, we will be happy to accommodate you.
Rates & Payments
How much cost and what is included in the student rate?
Student accommodation in shared dorms is available at a fixed rate of €250 per week during the winter season*.
During peak season, students receive a 20% discount on standard lobby rates.
All quotations will include a full breakdown of services, and we are always happy to discuss any additional requests.
For students who book directly via hostels@canbe.ie, bed linen, a towel and breakfast are included.
Do I need to pay any deposit? What is it?
Yes, €30 security deposit per person must be paid upon arrival and it must be paid by card in one transaction. This deposit is only to guarantee that all the house rules will be followed.
If no issues happened during your stay, you deposit will be refunded in full once you check out. It can take up to 10 days for the money be issued in your account depending on your bank.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank transfers and major credit and debit cards.
Can you provide an invoice?
Yes, invoices can be provided upon request.
Accommodation & Room Features
Are bed linen and towel provided?
Yes. Bed linen and towel are included as a complimentary service for students that book directly with us.
Are all rooms equipped with bunk beds?
Our shared dormitories are equipped with bunk beds, which may be either twin bunk beds or triple bunk beds depending on the room type.
Although dormitories are shared spaces, we pride ourselves on providing a comfortable and private experience. Our bunk beds are designed with privacy in mind and include individual reading lights, shelves, power outlets, fans and privacy curtains.
Do you offer female-only dormitories?
Yes, subject to availability.
Will I have to share a bathroom?
We offer both ensuite and shared bathroom options.
For ensuite rooms, once your group has booked the entire room, the bathroom will only be shared among members of your group.
For rooms with shared bathroom facilities, several bathrooms are conveniently located on each floor of the hostel. Guests staying in ensuite rooms are also welcome to use the shared facilities if they wish.

Is breakfast available? What is it?
Enjoy a complimentary light continental breakfast daily from 7 AM to 10:30 AM. The buffet includes breads, cereals, jams, butter, fruit and beverage — view the breakfast menu here. Items may vary depending on availability.
Please note that as this is a complimentary breakfast, we do not offer special dietary options.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare their own meals if preferred (please remember to wash your dishes after use). Alternatively, guests can enjoy a full breakfast with a discount at our partner restaurants.
Is parking available?
Yes. Parking is limited and available for extra charge, subject to availability.
Parking must be requested when confirming your booking.
Please note that our parking facilities can’t accommodate coaches or large buses, although minibuses and vans can be accommodated.
Is Wi-Fi included?
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel.
Is the hostel accessible for guests with reduced mobility?
Accessibility features vary. Please contact us directly to discuss your specific requirements and we will be happy to advise on the most suitable option.
Can I borrow hairdryers, irons or buy travel adaptors at the hostel?
Yes, you can borrow hairdryers and irons free of charge from reception by leaving a valid ID as a deposit. We also sell travel adaptors suitable for Irish sockets to help keep your devices powered during your stay.
Additionally, you’ll find padlocks, toiletries, earplugs and other essential travel accessories available for purchase at reception, ensuring you have everything you need without having to bring it all with you.
Is there a smoking or vaping area?
Yes, there’s a designated smoking area. Smoking or vaping inside the building is strictly prohibited and subject to a €250 fine.
Is there a kitchen and laundry facility available?
Yes, Gardiner House Hostel has a spacious, fully equipped kitchen for guest use, open daily except during cleaning times with gas off at night — oven and microwave remain accessible. The laundry room operates from 7 AM to 9 PM, with washing and drying tokens sold at reception alongside washing tablets.
Location & Directions
How do I get to Gardiner House Hostel? Is there an airport bus stop nearby?
Gardiner House Hostel is approximately 25 minutes by bus from Dublin Airport. Search Google Maps for “D01 E4E3” upon airport arrival.
It’s served by the Aircoach 700 Airport Transfer, which drops you at Drumcondra Rail Bus Stop, two blocks from the hostel. Tickets cost around €11 one-way, book it online or drop a line to gardinerhouse@canbe.ie and we’ll help you book it.
It’s also served by public buses N. 16 and N. 41, stopping at Dorset Street at Lower North Circular Road (stop N49), just a 2-minute walk from the hostel. N. 41 runs 24/7, both with a fare of €2.60 payable in coins or ticket (Leap Card accepted).
Can I book tours and attractions with you?
Yes, absolutely. You can book a wide range of tours, attractions, and activities directly with us, making it easy to plan your stay and explore Dublin and Ireland.
We offer options such as pub crawls, walking tours, Irish day tours, airport transfers, and entry tickets to popular attractions. You can browse and book everything online through our dedicated booking links or simply drop us a message and our team will be happy to help you choose the best options.
If you prefer, you can also arrange and book tours directly at reception during your stay.
