How can I make a booking (individual or group)?

Individual bookings can be made directly through our website or via trusted third-party platforms.

For group bookings (4+ guests), please contact us at groups@canbe.ie or submit an enquiry through our website.

To provide a tailored quote, include your travel dates, number of guests, age range and any specific requirements.

Do you offer female-only dormitories?

Yes, subject to availability.

Do you accept kids? What is your age policy?

Yes, but children under 8 years old are not accepted. Guests between 8-17 years old must be accompanied by responsible adults and are not permitted in shared dorms with other guests. Be sure to book a private room when booking with a kid between 8-17 years old. Check-in with a minor in a shared dormitory will not be possible and no refund will be available.

Are all rooms equipped with bunk beds?

Most of our shared dormitories are equipped with bunk beds, which may be either twin bunk beds or triple bunk beds depending on the room type.

Although dormitories are shared spaces, we pride ourselves on providing a comfortable and private experience Our bunk beds are designed with privacy in mind and include individual reading lights, shelves, power outlets, fans and privacy curtains.

If you are booking a private twin or double room, both bunk bed and standard single-bed configurations may be available.

Will I have to share a bathroom?

We offer both ensuite and shared bathroom options. For non en-suite rooms, several bathrooms are conveniently located on each floor of the hostel. Guests staying in ensuite rooms are also welcome to use the shared facilities if they wish.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during peak season (St. Patricks, summer, comemmorative dates).

Student groups should book at least 6 months in advance where possible.

Will our group stay together?

We always do our best to accommodate friends and groups as close together as possible. If you would like you and your friends to stay in the same room, please let us know when making your booking. We will confirm whether this is possible or not. All requests are subject to availability.

What documents are required upon arrival?

All guests must present a valid photo ID at check-in.

Non-EU citizens must provide a valid passport.

EU citizens must provide valid ID, Driver License or passport.

Identification documents will be scanned and securely stored as part of the check-in process.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in starts from 3 PM, with early check-in possible for a fee and subject to availability. Reception is open 24 hours allowing late arrivals. Check-out is by 11 AM, but you may remain in the common areas until 3 PM. Late check-out incurs an automatic €20 surcharge per person.

Do we need to pay any deposit?

A card is required for the deposit, taken as a transaction of €30 per person (€50 for walk-ins). Groups of 4+ must pay a group security deposit in one transaction only. Security deposits are refunded at check-out if there’s no damage.

How do I cancel or modify my reservation?

For bookings made directly through our website, you can cancel or modify your reservation using the confirmation email received at booking.

Cancellations or changes must be made at least 2 days before your check-in date to be eligible for a refund. If you cancel less than 2 days before check-in or if you do not show up, no refund will be issued.

Non-refundable rates cannot be refunded.

For bookings made through third-party platforms (such as Booking.com, Hostelworld, etc.), all cancellations and modifications must be handled directly via those channels according to their policies.

We strongly recommend reviewing the cancellation terms before booking to avoid disappointment. If you experience any issues or have further questions, please contact our front desk for assistance.

When is payment due?

Individual bookings: payment follows the conditions of your selected rate.

Groups: final payment is typically due one month before arrival unless otherwise stated.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit/debit cards. Invoices are available upon request.

Is breakfast included? What options are available?

Enjoy a complimentary light continental breakfast daily from 7 AM to 10:30 AM. The buffet includes breads, cereals, jams, butter, fruit, coffee, milk and juice — view the breakfast menu here. Items may vary depending on availability.

Please note that as this is a complimentary breakfast, we do not offer special dietary options. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare their own meals if preferred (please remember to wash your dishes after use). Alternatively, guests can enjoy a full breakfast with a discount at our partner restaurants.

Are towels and bed linen included?

All guests enjoy fresh linen and a made bed on arrival. Towels are included for private rooms only; dorm guests can rent towels at reception.

Can I borrow hairdryers, irons or buy travel adaptors at the hostel?

Yes, you can borrow hairdryers and irons free of charge from reception by leaving a valid ID as a deposit. We also sell travel adaptors suitable for Irish sockets to help keep your devices powered during your stay.

Additionally, you’ll find padlocks, toiletries, earplugs and other essential travel accessories available for purchase at reception, ensuring you have everything you need without having to bring it all with you.

Is there car parking onsite?

Private parking is available but must be reserved ahead of time (limited availability). Payment is due at check-in and can be made by card or in cash.

Is there a smoking or vaping area?

Yes, there’s a designated smoking area. Smoking or vaping inside the building is strictly prohibited and subject to a €250 fine.

Is there a kitchen and laundry facility available?

Yes, Gardiner House Hostel has a spacious, fully equipped kitchen for guest use, open daily except during cleaning times with gas off at night — oven and microwave remain accessible. The laundry room operates from 7 AM to 9 PM, with washing and drying tokens sold at reception alongside washing tablets.

Do you offer luggage storage? Are there lockers for guests?

Yes, we provide a secure luggage storage room for an additional fee, where you can store your bags before check-in or after check-out (availability at reception).

Additionally, each bed comes with its own individual locker requiring a small padlock. If you don’t have one, we sell them at reception to keep your belongings safe.

Is the hostel accessible for guests with reduced mobility?

Accessibility features vary. Please contact us directly to discuss your specific requirements and we will be happy to advise on the most suitable option.

Is Wi-Fi included?

Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel.

How do I get to Gardiner House Hostel? Is there an airport bus stop nearby?

Gardiner House Hostel is approximately 25 minutes by bus from Dublin Airport.  Search Google Maps for “D01 E4E3” upon airport arrival.

It’s served by the Aircoach 700 Airport Transfer, which drops you at Drumcondra Rail Bus Stop, two blocks from the hostel. Tickets cost around €11 one-way, book it online or drop a line to gardinerhouse@canbe.ie and we’ll help you book it.

It’s also served by public buses N. 16 and N. 41, stopping at Dorset Street at Lower North Circular Road (stop N49), just a 2-minute walk from the hostel. N. 41 runs 24/7, both with a fare of €2.60 payable in coins or ticket (Leap Card accepted).

Can I book tours and attractions with you?

Yes, absolutely. You can book a wide range of tours, attractions, and activities directly with us, making it easy to plan your stay and explore Dublin and Ireland.

We offer options such as pub crawls, walking tours, Irish day tours, airport transfers, and entry tickets to popular attractions. You can browse and book everything online through our dedicated booking links or simply drop us a message and our team will be happy to help you choose the best options.

If you prefer, you can also arrange and book tours directly at reception during your stay.
